Sugata . The blade is in shinogi-zukuri with iori-mune and has a little wide mi-haba, thick kasane, shallow sori and extended chu-kissaki.
Jihada : Dense ko-itame-hada with abundant ji-nie and fine chikei and the jigane is clear and beautiful.
Hamon : O-gunome-midare becomes toran-ba and consists of thick and bright ko-nie accompanied with thick and bright nioi-guchi then thick ashi are seen inside the hamon.
Boshi : Sugu then turns back in ko-maru with a little long kaeri.
Nakago : Ubu and kengyo tip, sujikai with kesho-yasuri and a mekugi-ana.
Remarks : Sukehiro was bornUchide Village of Settsu Province in 1637 and went to Osaka and
became a student of Soboro Sukehiro. It is said that he was adopted by his teacher
afterwards and sbstituted for his father-in-law.
He was titled as Echizen no Kami in 1658 then created a uniqe hamon called 'Toran-ba
or Toran-midare' (Surging waves pattern).
He suddenly died in 1682 at the age of 46 but had obtained a reputation as one of the
greatest master smiths in Kanbun-shinto times as well as Inoue Shinkai and Nagasone
Kotetsu .
He is also good at sugu-ha and match for 1st Tadayoshi of Hizen province as master
smith of sugu-ha.
